This allows the payment to be directed to a specific office. EEA country has an associated BIC + IBAN, which is clearly identified and printed on all bank account statements issued after July 2003.
The FSA has therefore issued a reminder of the guidelines for this data I its recent newsletter. The codes can sometimes be found on account statements.
You need to enter the codes when, for example, registering for GST or completing an annual tax return.
This delay is not the first that the FSA has been forced to announce (see our coverage here): the launch has been delayed for nearly two years, as the regulator has struggled to get its current surveillance system up to scratch in order to be able to process transaction reports for AII transactions.
